I’m Head of Design within Kaluza’s global, multidisciplinary UX team across the UK, Portugal and Australia, helping shape the experience for a complex, multi-product energy platform serving global retailers including AGL, Shell Energy Australia and ENGIE.

During Kaluza’s start-up phase, I led UX on the migration of 3.5 million customers from SSE Energy Services onto the platform, one of the most ambitious digital migrations in UK energy retail. I designed end-to-end billing, payments and account journeys, driving a 50% improvement in agent efficiency and a 32% reduction in handling time. I also grew the team from five to more than 25 as the business scaled, achieving an 8.1 out of 10 engagement score.

OVO Energy

Senior Designer
Dec 2017 – Dec 2019

At OVO Energy I designed a new customer-facing account experience from first principles, migrating 100,000 smart meter accounts by the end of 2018 and over 90% of customers onto the new platform by H1 2020. My team delivered a fully compliant plan renewal journey in six weeks, and explored real-time billing concepts from smart meter data that laid foundations for time-of-use tariffs and propositions such as solar and EVs. I created OVO's flexible PDF bill template, still in production today and used to generate hundreds of millions of bills. I also raised key digital journeys to a Customer Satisfaction Score (CSAT) of 4 out of 5, mapped OVO's first service blueprint and authored its first accessibility principles, informed by in-home and lab research.

Interaction Designer

Interaction Designer on the GOV.UK waste permitting service, replacing a fragmented collection of PDF forms with a single online service built to Government Digital Service standards. Working in an agile, cross-functional team, I iterated designs through continuous user research, contributing to 95% of applications being served by the new online process.

UX Designer
Jan 2010 – Oct 2016

First UX Designer at IOP (Institute of Physics) Publishing, where I created a global design system establishing consistent patterns, components and standards across the organisation's online journals, eBooks, websites and apps. Winner of a 2015 Eddie Digital Award for best App and Digital Edition for Physics World, and a 2016 Drum Online Media Award for the American Astronomical Society news site.
